How to care for your Yoni: A Journey of Sacred Self-Care

Firstly, what is Yoni?

At Feel, we like to use the term Yoni, a Sanskrit term for the female genitalia. We like to use this term because it not only speaks about vulva, vagina and cervix together as a whole, but also emphasises sacredness.

Let go of shame

In our modern world, this intimate part of the female body is often shrouded in shame, taboo, and neglect. By reclaiming the yoni as a holy temple and practicing sacred self-care, women can cultivate a deeper relationship with their feminine essence and awaken to their full vitality and potential.

Understand historical Background

The worship of the yoni can be traced back to ancient civilisations across the globe. In ancient India, the yoni was celebrated as a symbol of the divine feminine, the creative force of the universe. Yoni sculptures adorned temple walls, and yoni puja (worship) was a common practice. Similarly, in ancient Egypt, the yoni was associated with the goddess Isis and was seen as a source of mystical power and fertility.

However, with the rise of patriarchal religions and social structures, the sacred status of the yoni was diminished. Women's bodies and sexuality were increasingly controlled, suppressed, and demonised. This legacy of shame and disconnection has had a profound impact on women's relationship with their yonis, leading to a host of physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances.

Here are some ways start intentional Yoni Self-Care

*Please note: The information provided in this class is for educational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. We invite you to explore these practices as a way to connect with your own body and truth, but always listen to your own intuition and consult with a trusted healthcare provider before beginning any new self-care routine. Every woman's body is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Honor your own wisdom and take responsibility for your well-being.

Explore yoni steaming

This ancient practice involves sitting over a bowl of steaming herbs, allowing the warm steam to gently penetrate the yoni. Yoni steaming can help soothe menstrual cramps, balance hormones, and promote reproductive health.

Practice yoni breathing

Bring your awareness to your yoni and imagine breathing in and out through this sacred space. This practice can help release tension, increase oxygenation, and promote a sense of relaxation and vitality. For example, try our 6-minute guided yoni breathing practice from our membership portal.

Explore yoni-centered pleasure

Set aside time to explore your yoni with mindfulness, curiosity, and love. As opposed to ‘masturbation’ for the sake of orgasmic release, experiment with different touches, pressures, and sensations, allowing yourself to fully surrender to pleasure. Take your time and explore.

Give your yoni gentle intuitive massage

Regular massage of the external and internal parts of the yoni can increase blood flow, release tension, and enhance sensitivity. Use a natural lubricant and set a sacred space for this practice.

By treating your yoni as a sacred temple and practicing regular self-care, you can cultivate a deeper relationship with your feminine essence and awaken to new levels of vitality, pleasure, and power.

Whether through yoni steaming, massage, breathing, or honoring your menstrual cycle, each act of loving attention is an offering of reverence to the divine portal within. As you journey deeper into this sacred practice, trust the wisdom of your own body and the guidance of your heart. Your yoni temple is a holy place, and its care and keeping are a sacred trust.
